Douglas County - Metro Atlanta Guidebook

Douglas County Georgia consists of the following cities:
Douglasville (the county seat named the “Dynamic City” with a turn-of-the-century downtown that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places featuring the Jocada Jazz History Museum, the Douglas County Museum, an exhibit on "Gone With the Wind” and the new Douglasville Downtown Conference Center)
Lithia Springs (home of Sweetwater Creek State Conservation Park - Georgia’s third most visited State Park - and a resort of long ago when early Native Americans prized the area and lived at the salt (lithium) springs)
Winston (home of Clinton Farms Nature Preserve where annual events from Pioneer Days presented by the Douglasville / Douglas County Cultural Arts Council to the ‘Rednation’ Intertribal Pow-Wow!)

Douglas County's strategic location just west of Atlanta and its easy access to downtown Atlanta as well as Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport have caused it to be referred to as "Atlanta's West, Atlanta's Best".

Brimming with history, culture, natural beauty and a vibrant economy “Celebrate Douglas County” has become the internal marketing theme for the county.

Douglas County Georgia remains relatively small despite its attractive proximity to the metro Atlanta area. With a population of over 100,000 in 2003 there is still plenty of wide open spaces and clean air.
